Sedation Dentistry

At Lakewood Dental Trails, we do all we can to foster a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for each patient. We have stocked our dental office with pillows, blankets, scented towels, flat-screen TVs, and other creature comforts. Still, we recognize that some members of our dental family need a little more help getting comfortable.

For these patients, we provide sedation dentistry for our Temple, TX patients. If you suffer from dental anxiety, a sensitive gag reflex, or just prefer to be less aware of what is going on during your treatment, we can help. Because our dental team strives to ensure you receive gentle care, many of our patients don't feel they need sedation. Sedation dentistry is an additional service we provide for our more anxious patients.

Do you think you could benefit from sedation at your next dental appointment? Please call us so we can plan the appropriate level of sedation for your needs.

We Put Your Comfort First

With or without sedation, we will explain in detail each step of the treatment you are receiving and why it's necessary. Any questions or concerns you may have will be addressed to your satisfaction before we perform any dental care services. Part of helping you relax is eliminating any mystery about your procedure. Knowing what to expect helps you feel more in control of the situation, which is essential for our anxious patients.

Oral Conscious Sedation

To reduce stress caused by dental anxiety, our Temple, TX dentist can provide oral sedation, one of the two forms of sedation we offer. You will take the medication before we perform your procedure. By the time we start treatment, you will be relaxed and comfortable yet still conscious and able to communicate with your dental team.

Laughing Gas

Nitrous oxide, also commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” is our second sedation option. You can opt for nitrous oxide for a similar relaxation effect to oral sedation. The benefit of nitrous oxide is that there are no lingering effects after we stop administering the gas. For patients who need to drive, return to work, or resume normal activities right after their visit, nitrous oxide is a good choice.

Alternatively, some patients opt for a combination of both sedation methods for added relaxation and stress reduction. Whatever choice you make, you can be confident that Lakewood Dental Trails is committed to providing gentle and caring dental care.
