Sedation Dentistry

At Lakewood Dental Trails, we do all we can to foster a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for each patient. Our office is stocked with pillows, blankets, scented towels, flat screen TVs, and other creature comforts. Still, we recognize that some of our family members need a little more help getting comfortable.

For these patients, we provide sedation dentistry. If you suffer from dental anxiety, a sensitive gag reflex, or just prefer to be less aware of what is going on during your treatment, we can help. Although we strive to ensure you receive gentle care, sedation is an additional service we provide for our more anxious patients.

With or without sedation, you will have each step of the treatment you are receiving explained to you in detail before we begin. Any questions or concerns you may have will be addressed to your satisfaction before any dental care services are performed.

Oral Conscious Sedation

To alleviate stress caused by dental anxiety, your dentist can provide you with a medication for oral sedation, one of two forms of sedation we offer. You will take the medication before the treatment is performed, and can relax through the work yet still be conscious and able to communicate with your dental team.

Nitrous Oxide

Sometimes referred to as “laughing gas”, nitrous oxide is our second option for sedation. You can opt for nitrous oxide for a similar relaxation effect to the oral sedation. The benefit of nitrous oxide is that there are no lingering effects after it has been administered. For patients who need to drive, return to work, or resume normal activities right after their visit, this is a good choice.

Alternatively, some patients opt for a combination of both sedation methods for added relaxation and stress reduction. Whatever choice you make, you can be confident that Lakewood Dental Trails is committed to providing gentle and caring dental care. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.
